5 things you didn't know about Wizkid

Before signing up some strong Ghanaian artistes to his Record label Wizkid has been great working with some international artists
, Drake surprised the Internet when he dropped not one but two new songs. The first song, "Pop Style" features Kanye West and Jay Z but it was the second song, "One Dance," that caught the attention of many.
Singing over a dancehall beat, Drizzy teamed up with Wizkid and Kyla. But just who exactly is Wizkid?
1. He Hails From Nigeria

Born in Surulere, Lagos State, Nigeria, the 25-year-old artist got his start in music at the age of 11 when he released his first album, "Lil Prinz" in 2001. It wasn't until 2014 when Wizkid got his big break, working with Wale, Tyga and Akon. In 2015, Wizkid got Drake and Skepta to appear on the official remix for "Ojuelegba."
2. The First Nigerian Artist With One Million Twitter Followers
Back in 2014, Wizkid surpassed Nigerian artists D'Banj, Don Jazzy, 2face and Genevieve Nnaji as the first Nigerian artist with one million followers on Twitter.
3. Fashion Is A Major Part Of His Life
Looking at photos of Wizkid, it's clear that fashion plays a major part in his life. According to Wizkid, Pharrell is one of his style icons and like Pharrell, Wizkid hopes to have his own clothing line soon. "I’m hoping to release a clothing line after my EP, planned for April. It’s going to be tracksuits, T-shirts, hats, and African attire as well. I’ll have a special line for traditional [clothes] with my tailors. Taking Africa to the world," he told Vogue.
4. Growing Up, He Wore Secondhand Clothes
In his own words, "Growing up in Lagos, I wasn't fortunate enough to get the fresh stuff when it was news." According to Wizkid, he used to go to a store that would sell secondhand clothes shipped from the United States.
5. He's Not A Fan Of Awards
Like many artists, Wizkid isn't big on accolades and award shows, going as far as even blasting BET on Twitter for not airing the Best International Act award. “My real fans know I am not really about that kind of thing,” he told The Fader. “That was not the reason why I fell in love with music.”
